SUBJECT: The Mandated Report of Water Quality and the Asbestos Management Plan Notification for the Frankford Township Board of Education

Water Quality Report

Assembly Bill 2160, signed into law in January 1998, states that all public water systems annually notify customers or users of required test results, which are located on the Frankford School web site, (www.frankfordschool.org). The water tests are updated annually by September 30th of each year. Federal regulations and guidance for “Customer Confidence Reports” have been developed for community water systems. This document, developed by the Bureau of Safe Drinking Water, provides a minimum set of guidelines for non-community water systems in order to comply with New Jersey State Law.

The well at the Frankford Township School is deemed to be a non-community water system by the State of New Jersey. Our Potable Water System (PWSID) Number is 1905336. The report explains where our water comes from, what it contains and how it compares to EPA and state standards. We are committed to providing you with safe drinking water.

Each annual drinking water report must contain a list of contaminants, if found, in the drinking water the previous year. They must contain a list of drinking water standards or “Maximum contaminant levels” or “MCL’s” for the contaminants found in the drinking water supply.

All copies of the analytical results by QC Inc., from March 1996 to September 2008 are on file in the office of the Supervisor of Buildings and Ground. Attached please find our most recent water analysis.

Based on a review of past water quality data, NJDEP has rated the susceptibility of our well as LOW, and has issued susceptibility waivers for pesticides, synthetic organic contaminants and asbestos.

ASBESTOS MANAGEMENT PLAN

The required Asbestos Management Plan for each building within the Frankford Township School District as required by law is to be inspected by an accredited management planner every three years. The plan and the inspections are on file in the office of Rod Crawford, Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds and a copy is located in each school building office. The plan and inspections can be reviewed during normal business hours at 4 Pines Road, Branchville, N.J.

The three year mandated re-inspection was completed in August 2007 and as stipulated in the plan, a facility inspection for any asbestos-containing material is conducted every six months. The most recent inspection was conducted in July of 2009.
