What are WebQuests?

WebQuests are probably the most talked-about and widely used Web-based activities in today's classrooms. What are WebQuests? What accounts for their popularity?

"A WebQuest," according to Bernie Dodge, the originator of the WebQuest concept, "is an inquiry-oriented activity in which most or all of the information used by learners is drawn from the Web. WebQuests are designed to use learners' time well, to focus on using information rather than on looking for it, and to support learners' thinking at the levels of analysis, synthesis, and evaluation."

In 1954 -- this is that many scientists predicted a home computer would look like in 2004.

Grade 5-PowerPoint and Word™ topics are covered in 5th grade using the text, Microsoft Office.

The Students will work on a WebQuest which will be coordinated with what they are currently working on in either science or social studies.

Grade 6- The focus of this year's class will be Microsoft PowerPoint. Students will be introduced to the basics and some of the advanced features of the program.

The Students will work on a WebQuest which will be coordinated with what they are currently working on in either science or social studies. Then they will create a PowerPoint presentation using the knowledge found researching the WebQuest.

Grade 7-8 The focus of this year's class will be Spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel. Students will be introduced to the basics and some advanced features of the program (including creating charts).
